To convince your liberal gay friends they are wrong to be gay, tell them that being gay is the equivalent of being a racist. You explain it the following way.
Homosexuality is the same type of human limitation or defect that underlies racism. Gays and racists suffer from the same problem. Their problem is that when they focus on some characteristic of another person, for example the other person's race or sexual anatomy, and they find it different from what they are most familiar, namely themselves, they reject it. Their feelings of attraction are limited to things most similar to themselves. So as the racist rejects people of a different race, so too does the gay person reject people with a different sexual anatomy.
Of course, racism exhibits itself in the realm of general socialization, while homosexuality is exhibited in the realm of personal intimacy. But the principle is the same.
If a person believes being racist is wrong, then it follows that they should also believe being gay is wrong. And based on the same logic, they should find that advocating gay rights is morally equivalent to advocating policies that encourage racism or "racists rights".
So in reality, gay rights advocates celebrating their gayness are rather like white supremacists marching about and celebrating their rejection of non-white people. Both groups are celebrating the same principle of personal limitation through rejection of what is different. And both are missing out on the benefits of appreciating and experiencing natural human differences.
Then, after you tell your gay friends that being gay is the same as being racist and that advocating gay rights is the moral equivalent of encouraging racism, they will protest and make all sorts of counter arguments. You can respond to their counter arguments using the answers provided on this site.

First of all, there is a difference between sexual orientation and racism. Let's get that straight.
ReplyDeleteHomosexuals do not reject the female sex in the same way that racists reject this race or that race; and your argument that gay people are celebrating the "principle of personal limitation through rejection of what is different" can also apply to straight people as well. Being gay by itself is different to being straight, and vice versa. Using your line of argument, it can also be said that straight people are rejecting what is different - that is being gay, and are personally limiting themselves. Therefore, you yourself is subject to this "principle of personal limitation" by limiting yourself to being straight or being gay-phobic. (Hell, I could say that straight people are like racists for parading their straightness in the world - see how convoluted your logic actually is?)
By the way, advocating "gay rights" is just a way to give gay people an "equal" chance with straight people to make it in the world. Because believe it or not, gay people are still treated to be a special group mainly because of people like you. If you or people like you did not exist to create arguments such as this one, then we wouldn't even be talking about "gay rights" in the world, would we?

There is no similarity between being gay and being racist. I'm a gay man, but I do not reject the female sex, denigrate or physically attack women, or behave towards them in any way comparable to the way racists behave towards other nationalities. Most of my friends are female and like anyone else, I have female relatives whom I love. I simply do not experience any sexual desire for women, never have, and don't know what it's like to have such desire. If you knew any gay men, you would soon realise that gay men and women tend to get on very well BECAUSE there is no sexual desire to complicate the friendship. So it would seem according to your thesis that we are racists who like, admire and enjoy the company of the ethnic group we are supposed to despise. Funny sort of racism.

I have never thought of my best friends (who are all female) to be lesser than I am, or to be dirtier, or less of a person (nor have I ever thought those feelings of a different race... just thought I would point that out also.) I have never judged them, or criticized them for being a woman, or anything of that nature, so how then, am I "racist"?
And by the way... you might want to look up the word racist and the word race, because no where does the definition say anything about the willingness of one to sleep with another of a different race.

ReplyDeleteEven so, being gay is still wrong. As a Christian and a well educated human being, I believe being gay is not supposed to be accepted as part of our culture. God in the first place created two different genders Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Adding another gender (LGBT) to the world is not a modern development. It's like playing god. In the book of Genesis, God said that we should be fruitful and multiply. How the actual fuck can one be fruitul and multiply when that person is L/G/B/T? Adopting a child? I wouldnt call that being fruitful. By supporting these LGBT marriages, you're indirectly or directly promoting sexually transmitted diseases. Is that really what you want. Just trying to make it very clear to you ppl in a way that is impossible for anyone to not understand. I'm not saying that we, the straight people have the rights to condemn the lgbts. My point is that we shouldnt accept these taboos. Instead of hating, work in love. Lead them back to the right path. Move them by the mercy of the Father. It is never to late to return to the Lord.
